The AirVision M1 is a high-tech pair of eyewear that ASUS unveiled at CES 2024 in Las Vegas, among many other devices. It’s not exactly a rival to the mixed reality headgear other firms unveiled at the event, or the soon-to-be Apple Vision Pro. The purpose of the wearable display, called the AirVision M1, is to allow people to multitask by creating several virtual screens. It has an FHD (1,920 x 1,080) Micro OLED display with a vertical perspective field of vision of 57 degrees.
With the device’s three-degree-of-freedom architecture, users can affix multiple screens in their preferred aspect ratio—16:9, 21:9, or 32:9. The easy-to-use touchscreen on the left temple of the glasses allows users to control brightness and switch on 3D mode. Additionally, the device has speakers and microphones for noise cancellation integrated right in.
Although it could seem like a useful travel companion for those who must bring work with them, the AirVision M1 is not a stand-alone wearable: For it to function, a USB-C connection to a phone or a PC is required. Although ASUS has not yet disclosed the price or release date, the device’s specifications and capabilities suggest that it will be far less expensive than Apple’s Vision Pro.
