After several months of waiting, OpenAI’s GPT Store—where users can share their personalised chatbots—finally opened for business on Wednesday. The shop provides new potential use cases to ChatGPT and expands OpenAI’s ecosystem beyond what the business builds for customers.
OpenAI reported that since launching the GPT Builder programme in November, users have produced more than 3 million bots, or GPTs. (Yours personally included; I built a GPT that provides synonyms for frequent words). The business stated that it intends to feature helpful GPTs within the store once a week.
The GPT Store was supposed to open in November, but the business postponed it to December and then to January. Those who have developed their own chatbots can post their public versions of ChatGPT on the platform. Custom GPTs are currently only usable by subscribers to OpenAI’s premium tiers.
Additionally, OpenAI declared that in the first part of the year, it will begin a revenue-sharing programme with the producers of GPT. The business hasn’t yet disclosed details about how GPT builders will be compensated for user interaction with their chatbots.
OpenAI announced that it had created a new review system in advance of the GPT Store’s launch to make sure customised GPTs adhere to its usage and brand standards. It also revised the process for reporting GPTs that users deem dangerous or hazardous.
The GPT Store will roll out to customers of ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise users, along with subscriptions to a new tier called Team.
A premium version of ChatGPT designed for smaller teams with fewer than 150 members is called ChatGPT Team. Similar to ChatGPT Enterprise, ChatGPT Team provides data control, access to DALL-E 3, GPT-4, and OpenAI’s Advanced Data Analysis capability. According to OpenAI, none of its models will be trained using the data and discussions from ChatGPT Teams. ChatGPT Team subscribers can also utilise other GPTs in the shop or construct bespoke GPTs for the unique requirements of their teams.
The cost of ChatGPT Team is $25 per month for yearly billing or $30 per month for monthly payment.
