Samsung Electronics and Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) have jointly revealed that the forthcoming Galaxy S25 Edge will incorporate Corning® Gorilla® Glass Ceramic 2 — a next-generation glass ceramic that offers enhanced protection while enabling a sleek, ultra-thin device design. United by a commitment to advancing mobile technology, Samsung and Corning collaborated to deliver a premium S series experience that blends sophistication with strength.
Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 builds upon the renowned durability of Corning® Gorilla® Glass. By integrating Corning’s cutting-edge glass technology with Samsung’s unique processing and reinforcement methods, the Galaxy S25 Edge features a cover that is both stylish and robust.
“The Galaxy S25 Edge represents a leap forward in design and performance, being the slimmest Galaxy S series model to date,” said Kwangjin Bae, EVP and Head of the Mechanical R&D Team, Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics. “Creating a display that is both ultra-thin and exceptionally durable required a close partnership with Corning. Our mutual dedication to thoughtful engineering and innovation focused on user experience is evident in every aspect of this device.”
Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 incorporates crystals within its glass matrix, significantly enhancing its resistance to damage and ability to deflect cracks. This fusion of glass and crystals results in greater toughness while preserving optical clarity. Corning’s ion exchange process further strengthens the material, contributing to the display’s long-lasting durability.
“With Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, we’ve combined sleekness and resilience to offer users a tough yet refined design,” said Andrew Beck, Vice President and General Manager of Corning® Gorilla® Glass. “The Galaxy S25 Edge exemplifies the shared dedication of Corning and Samsung to continuously adapt to the changing demands of consumers worldwide.”
